Becca Champagne Pop Review And 6 Dupes For Max Glow

Jaclyn Hill changed the beauty community when she collabed with Becca Cosmetics to launch her iconic Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector. Champagne Pop was thee highlighter every beauty guru and makeup lover was wearing. It’s peachy-gold shade was wearable and flattering for many and people could not get enough of it. You could go as far as to say it started the highlighter craze in 2015 and you wouldn’t be wrong!

Becca highlighters have been staples in makeup lovers collections for years. They give an intense glow but they’re buttery and melt into the skin. They’re not glittery or chunky, either. They launched their highlighters or their Shimmering Skin Perfectors in 2013 and today, they’re formula is still so good.

Since Becca launched Champagne Pop in 2015, so many drugstore brands have stepped up their highlight game. There is no shortage of high quality, pigmented highlighters at the drugstore. Becca highlighters are pricey and while they’re huge and generally worth it, there’s a lot of dupes on the market to get the look for less.

Our favorite dupe for Champagne Pop is Wet n Wild’s MegaGlow Highlighter in Golden Flower Crown. Wet n Wild has proven time and time again that they can create quality, affordable products that perform well. This highlighter is buttery, smooth, pigmented and the shade is very similar to Champagne Pop. Overall, this dupe is a great option for Champagne Pop and it will give you the exact look for a fraction of the price!

When they first launched Champagne Pop in 2015, it sold out of Sephora in 25 minutes. Everyone was going nuts to get their hands on this highlighter because it gave that intense, blinding glow that everyone was searching for. I lived for Champagne Pop when it launched and I bought multiple compacts of this iconic highlighter. Today, 5 years later the formula is still amazing and the shade is perfect.

It’s a warm, peachy-gold that flatters the skin without being too gold or yellow. It’s also not too silvery or cool toned and that’s harder to come across than you would expect. What’s so special about Champagne Pop is how it has proven to flatter so many different skin tones. Tons of brands say their shades are ‘universal’ when they really only work on a small number of skin tones.

It’s no shock Becca does highlighters extremely well and beauty lovers know how pigmented and blinding they will always be. This highlighter adds to any look and it’s perfect for those that want a blinding glow. But, their formula is so ideal because it’s buildable and you can control how intense you want the glow to be. With the lighter hand, it can be a much more natural looking glow.

The only con with Becca highlighters is how soft they are. They break and crack very easily so they are hard to travel with and if you drop one, forget about it. They’re still worth it and they sell mini highlighters that don’t break as easily. But regardless, broken highlighters are messy and always a sad sight to see!

Becca Champagne Pop Dupes

There is no denying how beautiful Becca highlighters are but they are soft and break easily. Becca is a luxury makeup brand but the highlighters are still high in price for luxury brands in general. So, this is when a dupe comes in very handy.

Becca Highlighters really started the highlighter trend so there is no shortage of dupes out there.

Especially for Champagne Pop. While 5 years later, highlighting trends have changed and people go for a more subtle glow, Champagne Pop’s shade is still unbeatable.

Brands like Wet n Wild, Maybelline and Colourpop have created blinding, gorgeous highlighters that prove you don’t need to pay luxury pricing for a blinding glow. Highlighters are still SO popular and brands at the drugstore carry many different types of highlighters. In 2015 when Champagne Pop launched there weren’t many pigmented, affordable highlighters. Today in 2020 there are tons of affordable highlighters that perform just as well as the luxury ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Makes a Good Curling Iron for Thick Hair?

Curling irons for thick hair must have a high-temperature setting (heat up to at least 400F) to hold thick hair into curls all-day if not for a few days!
The best curling irons for thick hair use an advanced ionic or infrared technology to reduce frizz and keep your hair moisturized.

What size barrel is best for thick hair?

For thick hair, a curling iron with a barrel sized 1.5 inches is the most suitable option for everyday use.
Depending on your desired hairstyle, you can section your hair into smaller or thicker sections to create both tight and loose curls.

How do you make curls last all day with thick hair?

Use a mousse and heat protectant before you blow-dry in order to give the hair more hold. Prepping with a setting spray is also great for locking in your curls. Many of them offer heat protection, too!

Will Champagne Pop flatter my pale or dark skin?

Yes! Champagne Pop is so unique and well loved because it flatters so many different skin tones. Tons of brands deem their shades as ‘universal’ and that is hardly true. It is so hard to create a ‘universal’ shade that actually flatters many. But Champagne Pop does that! Reviewers call it the ‘best highlighter of their life’ and that speaks volumes.

Here’s a video of Jackie Aina using it. Here’s a video of Jaclyn Hill using it.

What brush do I use for highlighter?

If you want an intense, glow look for a dense brush with a lot of bristles. This will deliver a good amount of product and you’ll get a blinding, intense glow. If you want a wash of glow and a softer or more diffused look, go for a fan brush. A fan brush has less bristles so it will apply less product. A beauty sponge or even your fingers work too.

Where do I apply highlighter?

Cheekbones are typically reserved for highlighter and most commonly used there. Along with down the center of the nose, brow bone, cupid’s bow and on the forehead. It’s very common in the inner corner of the eyelids to brighten your eyes, too. In the summer lots of girls like to wear highlighter on their shoulders and collarbones with tank tops and off the shoulder tops!

The dupes on this list and Becca highlighters are pigmented and safe to use on the body, face and even on the eyelids as eyeshadows.
