Raise your hand if you want a dependable flat iron that cuts down the trips to the hair salon.

We’re right by your side on this quest. It’s why we’re always keeping an eye out for the next best thing— In the hopes of helping you find the ideal flat iron for that sleek and shiny look.

This time around, we’re putting the spotlight on AbsoluteHeat Pro Ion Digital Flat Iron.

So what’s the 411 on AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron?

We were super impressed with the sleek and ergonomic design of this hairstyling tool. It’s also got built-in titanium plates with a versatile heating range. Both features made us confident that this one was a keeper. These qualities, however, don’t always fare as well in the long run. So if you’ve got the budget, you’d do better with another flat iron like the RUSK Engineering CTC Technology Professional Straight Iron.

Pros and Cons Of The AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron

What Makes a Good Curling Iron for Thick Hair?

Curling irons for thick hair must have a high-temperature setting (heat up to at least 400F) to hold thick hair into curls all-day if not for a few days!
The best curling irons for thick hair use an advanced ionic or infrared technology to reduce frizz and keep your hair moisturized.

What size barrel is best for thick hair?

For thick hair, a curling iron with a barrel sized 1.5 inches is the most suitable option for everyday use.
Depending on your desired hairstyle, you can section your hair into smaller or thicker sections to create both tight and loose curls.

How do you make curls last all day with thick hair?

Use a mousse and heat protectant before you blow-dry in order to give the hair more hold. Prepping with a setting spray is also great for locking in your curls. Many of them offer heat protection, too!

Things we liked:

  • Sleek and stylish design.
  • Sturdy slip-free grip.
  • Multiple heat settings to accommodate different hair types.
  • Advanced heat styling technology (e.g. titanium plates and infrared technology)
  • Affordable.

Things we didn’t like:

  • It doesn’t distribute the heat evenly.
  • The flat iron gets too hot to handle sometimes.
  • The auto-shut system is faulty.
  • Small plates won’t always work for thick hair.
  • Many users complained about durability issues.

Overview: The Best Features of the AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron

Here’s a quick preview of the best specs:

  • Infusion of titanium, ceramic, and tourmaline optimizes heat output.
  • Advanced far infrared heating technology for even heat distribution.
  • Beveled floating plates for maximum styling options.
  • Multiple heating modes (140°F to 450°F) with LCD for better temperature control.
  • Auto shut off technology that activates when you stop using the flat iron.
  • Extra-long 360° swivel cord for flexible hairstyling sessions.

Is the AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron Good?

On the surface, The AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron has a lot of things going on. It can provide you a smooth styling session with its flexible heating range. Plus, the titanium plating allows it to heat quickly, which is always a bonus.

However, its performance lacks consistency and reliability.

It’s why we gave AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron a 3.5 /5.

Here’s a closer look at the scorecard:

Ease of Use – 3.5 /5

AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron is a great model for teens and beginners due to its small size. The super-long swivel cord gives you the flexibility to style your hair at different angles. This makes way for a tangle-free styling session.

The only trouble is that our flat iron had a mind of its own. The auto-shut system activated midway because we kept it down for a couple of minutes. This can be inconvenient for anyone who’s still styling their hair. Plus, it tends to overheat, which makes it necessary to use heatproof gloves.

Durability –3/5

We recently bought this flat iron, but we can already see chinks in the construction.  That’s because the auto-shut mode is faulty, and the straightener overheats a lot. This leads us to believe that the product will wear out soon.

Heat Output – 3.5/5

If you look past the durability issues, then this heating output does blow you over. The titanium plating heats up within seconds.  It also eliminates frizz and hair static with its infrared heating technology.

However, you’ll have to watch out for accidental burns while using the flat iron.

Price – 4/5

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly purchase, then this comes close. There are cheaper flat irons out there, but they don’t have all the features. It’s why we recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a reasonable flat iron to experiment.

Our only grievance is that this isn’t a long-lasting investment. So we suggest comparing it with other flat irons in this price range before purchase.

Options–4. 5/5

Perhaps, the best feature of this hair styling tool is its adaptability.

The multiple heat settings (140°F-450°F) and beveled floating plates cater to different styling needs. You can use them to get super sleek hair or subtle curls. The LCD makes the process more manageable.

Power – 5/5

The flat iron features a universal voltage system (100-240V). That means it will work overseas with the right adaptor. It’s also has a sleek portable design that makes it easy to fit into your travel bag.

In short, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly purchase, then this is a doable option.

AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron Review

We have formed a love and hate relationship with our AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron. We appreciate the flat iron’s ergonomic design, quick-heating mechanism, and flexible cord. They make the styling session manageable and easy.

The triple threat of tourmaline, infrared technology, and titanium keeps flyaways at bay. It can help you achieve that sleek and shiny look in a matter of minutes. While the curved floating plates, accommodate your desire to have smooth and soft curls.

With that said, the flat iron’s performance stays inconsistent. We have tried it a couple of times and ended up with different results in the aftermath. Plus, the faulty auto-shut system slows us down. We’ve also ended up with a few accidental burns due to the uneven distribution.

All this leads us to believe that the flat iron isn’t as reliable as it seems.

The Ultimate Battle: How Does It Compare to Other Flat Irons?

We think it’s evident that AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron isn’t the best flat iron out there. Despite the advanced specs, it is still inefficient.  It’s why we decided to compare it with other flat irons available in the market.

AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron vs. Cortex Black Series Straightener

There are lots of similarities between the Cortex Black Series Straightener and AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron. They both offer adjustable temperature settings, tourmaline-infused construction, and anti-static infrared technology.

The only difference is that AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron is cheaper and lighter. These characteristics make it a better model for beginners. Also, the LCD provides you with a precise temperature setting, unlike its opponent.

AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron vs. CHI Original 1″ Ceramic Hairstyling Iron

The CHI Original 1″ Ceramic Hairstyling Iron is another versatile styling tool. It’s got beveled plates and adaptable settings that make this happen. The sleek design makes it user-friendly and portable too. The far infrared heating system and ceramic coating allow your hair to look shiny after use.

However, CHI Original 1″ Ceramic Hairstyling Iron isn’t perfect. The heat setting only goes up to 392°F, which is lower than AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron. It is also more expensive.

Thus, we suggest that you weigh in the pros and cons before you pick either product.

Final Thoughts

Our experience with AbsoluteHeat Flat Iron wasn’t that great. Yet, some reviewers do rave about its capabilities. So we categorize it as a short term investment for young hairstylists.

You get a salon-worthy look at almost half the price with this inexpensive purchase. All you’ve got to do is watch out for the defects and wear protective gloves while you’re styling your hair.

What if you don’t want to take the risk?

Then you can try one of the best titanium flat irons instead. Our favorites include the popular Nume Style Setter Hair Straightener and REMINGTON SHINE THERAPY Argan Oil & Keratin Infused 1 Inch Hair Straightener. They are adaptable, powerful, and always reliable.

  • Is it durable?

The answers to these questions will give you a better idea of how well the flat iron performs. You can also go through online reviews to make an informative decision.

Can You Use a Flat Iron on Wet Hair?

No.  You’re bound to end up with damages and burnt hair if you ever try a flat iron on wet hair. The best idea is to let your hair dry off before styling them.

You can also try taking a shower the night before if you don’t have time to dry them off in the morning.

How Often Should I Clean My Flat Iron?

The best tactic would be to clean it off whenever it’s necessary.  For instance, we wipe off our flat iron before and after use if we see product build-up and other gunk stuck on it. If that’s not possible for you, then do clean it once a week if you use it frequently.

Pro tip: Keep your styling tools covered during storage to prevent dust and dirt accumulation.
